Scientific Competence and Know-How
The scientific employees of the Institut für Gebirgsmechanik GmbH Leipzig (Institute for Rock Mechanics) have at their command many years' of experience and extensive expert knowledge as well as the necessary scientific and technical know-how pertaining to the solution of complicated problems in rock mechanics, especially relating to the field of extraction and usage of salt deposits.

Fundamental knowledge of rock mechanics and practical experience in its application exists in relation to:
  • mining of minerals and raw materials
  • assessment of rock bursts in potash mining
  • leaching of potash and rock salt deposits
  • exploration, mining and storage of fossil raw materials via drill holes
  • underground openings in the rock mass for storage, deposit and final disposal purposes
  • follow-up use of mine openings for interim storage and repositories
  • dimensioning of geotechnical barrier-constructions
  • safe and maintenance-free abandonment of mines and shafts
